9 reasons you should celebrate National Orgasm Day by having an orgasm

Do you know what day it is? It’s everyone’s favorite holiday. Today is *drum roll please* National Orgasm Day. 

It’s time to get in the holiday spirit folks, and really there is only one way to celebrate. Well, multiple ways, but they will all (hopefully) lead to the same happy ending. And if you are thinking to yourself, “But I am so busy…I don’t have time for this”, we have nice reasons why you should push a few things around to participate in the orgasmic festivities. 

It turns out that orgasms have lots of added benefits, besides putting you in a good mood. If you need more convincing, please read on:

1. You will have a better night’s rest

If you have trouble getting a good night’s sleep, an orgasm can help. When you orgasm your body releases endorphins that are shown to have a sedative effect. What a great way to unwind.  

2. They boost your immune system

Research has shown that sex and orgasms are a great way to combat the common cold due to the rise of antibodies. Forget about apples, an orgasm a day….

3. Orgasms relieve stress 

This should be kind of obvious. Orgasms cause you to release oxytocin which improves your mood and makes you happy. Plus, you release tension. A more fun alternative to yoga? 

4. They boost your self-esteem 

Of course having one orgasm won’t solve all your confidence issues, but studies have show that regular orgasms increase young people’s self-esteem. 

5. They burn calories 

Orgasms can burn anywhere from 60 to 100 calories. And if your orgasms are a result of really intense, sweaty sex, you probably can skip cardio all together. 

6. They help clear your skin

There are many ways sex and orgasms can improve your skin’s overall look and feel. One major way is by reducing your hormone levels which aids clear skin. And if stress is causing your breakouts please refer back to number three. 

7. They help you focus

Ok, sure there are scientific reasons that support this but also it is kind of common sense. If you are distracted thinking about sex, allowing yourself to scratch that itch will help your mind move on and get back to work. 

8. You just might live longer 

Multiple studies have shown that frequent orgasms lead to longer lives. Consider the above benefits to orgasms, almost all of these things make you healthier. Additionally, sex gets your heart rate up, which improves blood pressure. So while you are working to achieve orgasm, you are also working at lowering your chances of heart disease. Look at you, multi-tasking. 

9. Orgasms are a great time and you deserve it

Simple as that. You work hard, treat yourself.

Girl On Tinder Goes Viral With Her Policy On Exchanging Nude Pics Because It’s Just So Perfect

If you’ve know anything about Tinder, especially if you’re a woman, you know that there is one thing certain to come up at some point along the way in a conversation with certain people and that’s some dude asking to see and/or exchange nude pics.

Amazingly, despite the inherent risks involved, some people actually do share nude pics with their Tinder matches. One of those people, however, is NOT this girl named Emily, and her reason why is one of the best and most logical reasons you will ever see.

Her Tinder bio reads…

“On the topic of nude pics: I just want to remind everyone of a little movie called TITANIC. A girl in 1912 has her naked body drawn in a sketchbook by a random dude that no one’s ever heard of, locks the drawing in a safe on a boat, the BOAT SINKS, and her nude pictures STILL ends up on television 84 years later. No one is safe.”

Genius. And I am not the only one who thought so, because it’s garnered over 3,600 likes and numerous comments praising her for her wisdom.

Speaking to Metro about her clever Tinder bio, Emily had this to say…

When asked whether she was really against sending nude photos, Emily said: ‘I’m all for loving your body and if you feel comfortable, you should flaunt it. Nude pictures for sexual reasons never made sense to me, there’s not much you can do with a picture that you couldn’t do with porn.’

Though Emily herself doesn’t feel comfortable sending nude photos, she says this is also down to being able to trust the people they are sent to.

‘It’s really hard to judge who is a smart person to send a nude picture to,’ she says. ‘You never know who’s actually seeing it or if they are going to be sent around. You don’t know if it’s going to end up online or if some guy who prays on young girls is going to see it.

‘My advice would be honestly wait for the real thing, it’s safer as once you press that send button, there’s no taking it back.’

This girl is just way too logical.

Criminal gang act like they’re in ‘The Fast and the Furious’ while stealing iPhones from moving truck

It sometimes feels like the world is driven by iPhone lust. But would you ever imagine people so thirsty for iPhones that they’re willing to break into a moving vehicle to steal them?

That’s exactly what a group of five motivated thieves did to an iPhone delivery truck in the Netherlands about a week ago.

According to the Associated Press, five Romanian men were arrested on Saturday under suspicion of stealing $590,000 worth of iPhones from a moving vehicle. 

The men, aged 33 to 43, hopped in a van and reportedly tailed a delivery truck. Then they did something you probably thought only happened in the movies. 

Two of them climbed out of the sun roof and onto the hood of van before breaking into the delivery truck — all while both vehicles were moving down a Dutch highway in the middle of the night. Once the men were in the delivery truck, they passed boxes of iPhones back to the van and fled with the goods.

Dutch police have recovered the iPhones and the van the men used during this incredible display of bravery and stupidity. Dutch officials think this five-member gang is responsible for 17 of these insane highway stunts over the past two years. The men are set to appear in court on Tuesday. 

These kinds of on-the-road heists from moving vehicles aren’t new to Europe, either. When it comes to luxury items, like iPhones, thieves will do almost anything imaginable to get their hands on the goods. Heists like this have been going back to at least 2012, where a police helicopter once caught a video of another group attempting to act out the same stunt, although they didn’t actually end up stealing anything in that case. 

No matter, this new robbery takes iPhone worshipping to an entirely new level. Let’s just hope future criminals leave the high-risk stunts to Hollywood from now on.

With an average of $7.65 return on each dollar spent, according to an infographic by Influencer Marketing Hub, it’s easy to see why brands that try out influencer marketer often stick with it.

The infographic also shows that the number of platforms and agencies in the space has grown 220% in the last two years.

Influencer marketing is effective say 84% of marketers according to the infographic. And 55% of marketers say they acquire better customers through influencer marketing.

A neuroscientist reveals his strategy for making himself luckier

If you want to be a lucky person, it helps to know what luck looks like.

According to Northwestern University neuroscientist Moran Cerf, the way to become a luckier person is to keep a running list of times luck was (and was not) on your side. More often than not, Cerf has found, the times you got lucky will outnumber the unlucky moments.

Cerf has studied decision-making for over a decade, and he’s learned, among other things, that free choice is a terrible predictor for happiness. Humans fall victim to all sorts of cognitive biases that cloud their impression of their lives for the worse.

When it comes to luck, the worst offender is the negativity bias, or the tendency to recall negative events more easily and often than positive ones. Think about how much easier to remember turbulent plane rides over smooth ones, or poor interactions with police officers over good ones.

"Because our brains are geared toward thinking about negativity and scary things, because that’s how the brain kind of learns," we tend to remember the bad stuff more often than the good, Cerf said.

As Cerf tells his students, keeping a log of when luck goes your way helps to overcome that negativity bias. Consider someone who thinks they get a lot of parking tickets. Cerf advises them to write down every time they park somewhere they could potentially get a ticket. Each time they don’t get a ticket, Cerf says to put a checkmark. Then, at the end of the week, month, or year, divide the checks by the total number of cases.

"You see that you were lucky," Cerf told Business Insider. "Most of us are lucky. That’s the point."

By seeing the data right in front of them, in other words, people can realize that their train may not experience as many delays as they think, rush-hour traffic might not be so bad, and they don’t actually forget your umbrella on rainy days as often as they think.

Of course, constantly tracking your luck could produce the opposite effect, Cerf said.

You may notice, for example, that your train is late far more often than you thought. Or maybe you hadn’t noticed it was late at all, since you were busy reading. Actively tracking cases where it runs late might ruin any bliss you experienced from being ignorant.

Regardless, Cerf said, the upside to his strategy is that it provides you with more information, which you can use to shape your perspective about your life. Rather than relying on faulty memories and decision-making, you can have peace of mind that you are, in fact, making sound decisions that turn out in your favor.

And if you find you’re less lucky in certain respects than you thought, you can choose to make wiser decisions that may turn out for the better. If the data show you do get an overabundance of parking tickets, you can find a new place to park, perhaps increasing your luck.

"It’s simple advice," Cerf said, "but my students come back to me and say ‘This is really helpful.’"

Sam Shepard, Pulitzer-winning playwright and Oscar-nominated actor who played legendary test pilot Chuck Yeager in The Right Stuff and the Rayburn family patriarch in the Netflix drama series Bloodline, has died. He was 73. 

Shepard died Thursday at his Kentucky home of complications from Lou Gehrig’s disease, a family spokesman confirmed Monday morning.

Shepard was nominated for three Pulitzers, winning for the 1979 drama Buried Child. His plays explored the dark underside of American family life, portraying marriages, sibling rivalries and other  family dynamics struggling to survive the fragile American dream.

His other Pulitzer nominations came for the Broadway productions True West and Fool for Love.

But Shepard was perhaps more widely known for his on-screen roles, including The Right Stuff, Philip Kaufman’s 1983 adaptation of the Tom Wolfe historical novelization of the early days of the space program. Shepard was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for playing Yeager, the swashbuckling, larger-than-life flyboy who’s still considered the greatest test pilot in American history.

More recently, Shepard appeared on Netflix’s Bloodline, playing Robert Rayburn, the Florida resort owner and family patriarch under the constant pressure of his family’s many secrets, whose character died at the end of Season 1.

Shepard also wrote several screenplays, including Paris, Texas and Robert Altman’s Fool for Love. His novel “The One Inside” was published this past February.

Shepard is survived by three children, Jesse, Hannah and Walker, and two sisters, Sandy and Roxanne Rogers.

There’s even more evidence that one type of exercise is the closest thing to a miracle drug that we have

Want an all-natural way to lift your mood, improve your memory, and protect your brain against age-related cognitive decline?

Get moving.

A wealth of recent research, including a new study published this month, suggests that any type of exercise that raises your heart rate and gets you moving and sweating for a sustained period of time — known as aerobic exercise — has a significant, overwhelmingly beneficial impact on the brain.

"Aerobic exercise is the key for your head, just as it is for your heart," write the authors of an article in the Harvard Medical School blog "Mind and Mood."

While some of the benefits — like a lift in mood — can emerge as soon as a few minutes into a sweaty bike ride, others — like improved memory — might take several weeks to crop up. That means that the best type of fitness for your mind is any aerobic exercise that you can do regularly and consistently for at least 45 minutes at a time.

In the latest study to assess the benefits of aerobic workouts on the brain, researchers looked to hundreds of breast cancer survivors. They wanted to see if activities like walking and swimming could have any effect on "chemo brain," a commonly-reported side effect of breast cancer treatment that involves memory loss and difficulties focusing.

stretching exerciseSince previous research had suggested that regular workouts could help protect against age-related cognitive decline, the researchers wanted to find out if those results would hold true for cancer survivors too.

They gave nearly 300 breast cancer survivors accelerometers to track their daily activity and access to a specially-designed iPad app called BrainBaseline outfitted with quizzes designed to measure their attention and memory. At the end of a week, people who’d done aerobic exercise every day were not only significantly less tired than those who did little to no exercise, but also did significantly better on the app’s quizzes.

"The message for cancer patients and survivors is, get active!" said Diane Ehlers, the lead author on the study and a professor of exercise psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, in a statement.

Given that the study was only a week long, more research on cancer patients in particular is needed. Still, the evidence that aerobic workouts have a wide range of potential beneficial impacts on the brain — from reducing the symptoms of depression to strengthening connections in parts of the brain linked with memory — is robust and growing.

A pilot study in people with severe depression found that just 30 minutes of treadmill walking for 10 consecutive days was "sufficient to produce a clinically relevant and statistically significant reduction in depression." Aerobic workouts can also help people who aren’t suffering from clinical depression feel less stressed by helping to reduce levels of the body’s natural stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol, according to a recent study in the Journal of Physical Therapy Science.

If you’re over 50, a study in the British Medical Journal suggests the best results come from combining aerobic and resistance exercise, which could include anything from high-intensity interval training, like the 7-minute workout, to dynamic flow yoga, which intersperses strength-building poses like planks and push-ups with heart-pumping dance-like moves. Another study published in May provides some additional support to that research, finding that in adults aged 60-88, walking for 30 minutes four days a week for 12 weeks appeared to strengthen connectivity in a region of the brain where weakened connections have been linked with memory loss.

Researchers still aren’t sure why this type of exercise appears to provide a boost to the brain, but studies suggest it has to do with increased blood flow, which provides our minds with fresh energy and oxygen. And one recent study in older women who displayed potential symptoms of dementia found that aerobic exercise was linked with an increase in the size of the hippocampus, a brain area involved in learning and memory.

Joe Northey, the lead author of the British study and an exercise scientist at the University of Canberra, said his research suggests that anyone in good health over age 50 should do 45 minutes to an hour of aerobic exercise "on as many days of the week as feasible."

AMD is unintentionally profiting from cryptocurrency miners

A digital gold rush always has one obvious winner: the people who make the tools necessary to mine in the first place. AMD, for instance, has found itself the beneficiary of an increase in demand for its graphics cards, although it doesn’t believe that it’s a sustainable, long-term business. The company revealed as much during its earnings, with profits in the graphics card business increasing by 51 percent year on year.

Despite this huge upswing in interest, it’s not an area that AMD sees its future, which it’s insisting is still the gaming market. During the call, CEO Lisa Su said that the company had seen some "elevated demand," but that it’s not "looking at [cryptocurrency] as a long-term growth driver." That’s despite some of its partners, like ASUS, producing dedicated currency-mining cards that are better tweaked for constant use.

Of course, cryptocurrency is essentially a computational arms race, with the person with the most power liable to win. That has led to some outlandish — and unverifiable — stories, such as Quartz reporting that Marco Streng claiming he has chartered a Boeing 747 to ship graphics cards to his digital mining facilities. As that report elaborates, the current Etherium boom is worth around $7.2 million a day, although with all bubbles, it remains to be seen if the investment will provide a decent return.
