Dominican Republic is considered one of the countries with the most advanced telecommunications infrastructures in Latin America, bringing the benefits of technology to all Dominicans.
Access to information is essential to the establishment of knowledge and education. We enjoy Broadband Internet Access with speeds up to 2 Mbps and more in some cases, we have FO, WiFi, WiMAX, xDSL and other acronyms used in the Internet jargon related to the way of connecting to the Internet. The point is “Don’t let them fool you” we have access to the information and we know.
I will explain…
Some Internet Service Providers are advertising Triple Play… They put Internet Service plus VoIP Service and Cable service in a box, and sell it to you like “Triple Play”. Come’ on, man, I am Not Stupid!
Triple Play is a marketing term for the provisioning of high speed Internet access, television and telephone service over a single broadband connection, this requires the use of IPTV and VoIP. We all know about Internet Access and VoIP benefits but what about IPTV, well, the clearly desire choice, control and the ability to personalize our viewing experience. Ask TiVO
Non of the ISPs or Cable companies are offering IPTV in Dominican Republic. I guess due the limitations, IPTV requires real-time data transmission, also it is sensitive to packet loss and delays if the IPTV connection is not fast enough.
Don’t let them fool you selling you Triple Play… They most call it 2 + 1 (Internet Access, Voip + Cable TV) or something…
