Chester Bennington had his funeral over the weekend, but his fans are finding ways to pay their respects to the late Linkin Park frontman.
Like this mural which has popped up in front of Rock and Pies Pizza Co. in Sherman Oaks, California, which has been painted by local artist Jonas Never and took two days to complete.
Overlooking Highway 101, Never told Variety he completed the mural for free “because it was the right thing to do.”
“When I heard Chester died, I immediately thought of that wall because I knew some of the band members lived in the Valley,” he said.
Never said he stumbled across an image of Bennington “smiling, very recognizable, with all his tattoos visible,” a stark contrast to the singer’s intense onstage presence.
“I thought it would be better than having him up there screaming,” he said. Drivers were “beeping and cheering” while Never was painting the mural. Now people are stopping to take photos of it.
Something tells us this street art of Bennington won’t be the last:
Nearby in Burbank, there is a portrait of Bennington erected on the building for Warner Bros. Records, with fans laying flowers and tributes in front of photos of the artist.
A fitting way to say goodbye to one of music’s finest.
